How Do You Self-Sabotage? (And How To Stop It)

Updated: Oct 30, 2023

We've all been there — scrolling through social media, (seemingly) seeing others thrive, and wondering, "Why isn't that me?" Good question… So, why is that not you? Often the biggest roadblock to your success is not the competition or your offerings; it's you. So let's get real about tackling yourself and your own mindset. Because that’s what’s keeping your light from shining the way it should.

The Psychology Behind Self-Sabotage

First things first, what exactly is self-sabotage? It's when we actively or passively take steps to prevent ourselves from reaching our goals. Women, particularly female solopreneurs, often face unique challenges when it comes to this. We're talking about Imposter Syndrome — the belief that you're a fraud and don't deserve your success. There's also perfectionism — feeling like anything less than perfect is unacceptable, which results in procrastination or avoidance. And let's not forget the fear of "being too much," which leads to playing small to make others comfortable. Sounds familiar? You're not alone.

Take Control over Your Mind

Acknowledging you are the only one holding yourself back, is the first step to conquering self-sabotage. So, what is it for you? Is it fear of failure? Fear of success? Worrying about what others will think? All those voices in your head are so tiring! Wouldn’t it be great if your mind would just shut up for a bit? So how about I show you how you can start taking back control of your mind?

Identifying Your Saboteurs

These voices in your head, we’d like to call them Saboteurs. And these pesky characters fill you with doubt, stress, and anxiety. They’re like unwelcome roommates who never pay rent. They mess with your performance, your well-being, and even your relationships. Stop them from running the show! Knowledge is power, and identifying your Saboteurs is the first step in reclaiming your mind. Are you the Hyper-Achiever who's never satisfied? The Hyper-Vigilant expecting danger around every corner? Or perhaps the Stickler, eternally nitpicking, because it is never good enough? There are 9 Different Saboteurs, and knowing yours is the first step to disempowering them.

Take the Test

If you're ready to take control, I've got just the thing for you: a Saboteur Assessment. This test won't give you the strategies to kick them to the curb — that's what my Mindset Makeover program is for — but it will shed some illuminating light on how you're holding yourself back.

Click the button below to take the Saboteur Assessment and get to know your own mind a bit better.

You owe it to yourself to stop being your own worst enemy. Isn't it time you started being your own best advocate? Take the test and set the stage for a transformative journey ahead. Remember, being your own best advocate starts with your mindset, and your mindset starts with you.
